Another “zero” as we got back to the trail. Jerry’s friend John H. picked us up at 5am then drove us back to Fields Point where we caught the 9:45 ferry. We want to thank the many friends who offered to give us a ride. So many generous and kind people in our lives. When the boat pulled into Lucerne about 20 PCT hikers got on and continued on to Stehekin. Our plan was to hike about 5 miles if the weather looked OK, otherwise we would stay the night in Stehekin. As it turned out the weather looked ominous with a forecast of 70% rain today, 60% rain tonight and 0% rain tomorrow. A no brainer to stay in Stehekin and fortunately we were able to get one of the 6 tent sites at Purple Point campground and set up before the rain hit. We had lunch and dinner at the local restaurant and enjoyed wine on the deck in between meals along with many other through hikers including “Jefe” who we last saw at Sonora Pass. As we sat waiting for a waitress to take our dinner order we noticed that the local rain is snow only a couple thousand feet above us. We are at an elevation of 1100 feet and will likely be in snow tomorrow. The National Park was celebrating its 50th anniversary on this day.
