A “zero” for us. We had previous commitments in Seattle on the 29th and 30th so needed to be back for these. Unfortunately, there was the two rain days at Pear Lake where we stayed put and no cell service past Stevens Pass. I was stressed about getting in touch with Fawn so we would have a ride back to town. We contemplated several options and decided to continue hiking to Holden Village and if unable to contact her from there to take the ferry to Stehekin and use the pay phone hoping she would answer from a mysterious number. Although we have a Google email address we could not log onto an “unknown” device without getting a code on our phone that would authenticate us, but we had no cell service. This morning I explained our situation to the registrar at Holden Village and she was extremely helpful sending an email to Fawn and Pat (our son-in-law) requesting one of them pick us up at Fields Point landing at 4:45. We took the ferry to Stehekin where I was able to call Pat and confirm they received the email. Otherwise we would have been hitching a ride from Fields Point or taking the ferry to the town of Chelan. We plan to be back on trail in a few days to complete the last 89 miles of our journey. It was fun sitting on the deck in Stehekin and enjoying some wine with Pancakes and Nums before catching the ferry down lake. It is hard getting off trail when we are so close to finishing.
