Mile 2520.7 to 2543.2 for 22.5 miles with an elevation increase of 5794 and decrease of 8847. Our biggest elevation decrease in a single day to date! Hiking at 7:30 and into camp at 5:30 camping at an elevation of 2856 (.1 miles south of the Image Lake trail jcn.) Cannot say enough about the incredible beauty of this area. Gorgeous views of the north side of Glacier Peak, Mt. Baker, Dome, Sinister, Fortress and Chiwawa to name a few. We woke to a light frost with 6 tents close by. Many of these tents were within 2 feet of each other. Jerry suspects this is the AT (Appalachian Trail) way. It is a much more crowded trail. We seem to be in a big cluster of NOBO hikers right now with 20-30 in close proximity and lots of macho energy. Noticed that the fireweed blooming a few days ago has now gone to seed. Enjoyed succulent huckleberries and a few thimble berries. Thus far the most scenic part of the trail has been from Snoqualmie Pass north.
