An unplanned “zero” for us. We evaluated the weather and decided to go into Seattle and resume hiking on Monday when the weather forecast improves. Our luck with motels continues. Thankfully I showered last night. This morning there was no hot water in the motel. Jerry showered with cold water. Ouch! No restaurant either since no hot water. We walked to the espresso place and got coffee and a lousy bite to eat. At this time we were still planning on hiking toward Stevens Pass starting today. However, with a forecast for snow at 6000 feet which is where we would be in a few miles and speaking with family and Jerry’s grade school friend and weather aficionado, John we decided to go into Seattle for a couple of days. Another reason to go into Seattle is that Jerry lost his glasses yesterday. The clincher in our decision was Jerry’s glasses. He has a spare spare in Seattle and needs his glasses. We are going to stay with our daughter and get back on trail Monday; weather permitting. Did not want to displace the gal watching over our home and caring for our cats since it’s only for a few days. So excited to visit with our daughter, her husband and our 4 year old grandson who we have not seen in 5.5 months. This decision was hard for us to make being only 257 miles from Canada and the encouragement and support of so many great friends last night.
