Mile 2370.4 to 2392.8 for 22.4 miles with an elevation increase of 4508 and decrease of 6070. Made it to Snoqualmie Pass at an elevation of 3000 feet and stayed at the Summit Inn. We began hiking at 6:50 and reached Snoqualmie Pass at 4:30. It was a pleasant surprise to see friends Rich and Francois waiting for us. Went to the local pub and some other friends appeared. We enjoyed the company of friends we have not seen for many months or more. Guy who we hiked with in the desert and his wife Denise, Martin and Dave, both hundred highest finishers, Melissa and Ron, former Boealps students from 2007 were there as well as Rich and Francois. We woke in a cloud and light mist. Rain increased and was steady until about noon. We were soaked almost immediately from wet huckleberry bushes. After a few miles we ran into a trail crew just past Yakima Pass. They were clearing some of the overgrown trail. The sun tried to come out and gave us hope that the weather might be improving. The trail was good until we got close to Mt Catherine where it became quite rocky. It was particularly rough from Rockdale Creek to the pass. That section had some newer bridges that were nice so it appears that work is being done to improve this part of the trail. After it quit raining we enjoyed lots of huckleberries. Quite yummy. Another interesting occurrence was the large toad (size of Jerry’s fist) that jumped right in front of him. After checking into our motel room we met up with Squeeze, Jam and Milkshake. The weather forecast is not good with snow predicted at 6000 feet which of course we will be at in a few miles.
