Mile 2294.5 to 2310.8 for 16.3 miles with an elevation increase of 2170 and decrease of 1741. Camp is by the Crag Lake outlet at an elevation of 4819. We had a mediocre breakfast at the Kracker Barrel and Jerry ordered new shoes before we left White Pass at 11:45 and walked Hwy 12 1/2 mile to get back on the trail. I picked up my replacement shoes here. Discussion amongst hikers this morning was all about the weather and different strategies to deal with the rain. Just before the trail a trail angel was parked beside the Hwy. I enjoyed a banana and plum, while Jerry had a beer and chocolate covered donut! This trail angel came from the Appalachian Trail which she was hiking until she got two stress fractures. Afterwards she decided to provide trail magic on both trails. Trail quality was great today as we passed several small lakes, ponds and large meadows. We also passed numerous elaborate hunting camps and came across several hunters with bows out hunting Elk. Fortunately we only had a few sprinkles before getting into camp. We also each saw very small toads on the trail. They were only about an inch long, but these little ones have incredibly strong legs as we observed them going up a stiff section of the trail.
