Mile 2032.2 to 2054.6 for 22.4 miles with an elevation gain of 2508 feet and loss of 3989 feet. We were hiking at 7:05 and into camp at 5:15. We camped by the dry Lemiti Creek at an elevation of 4363. We woke to a misty rain and it was cold all day with winds out of the north. Jerry even wore his gloves all day. When we went from the Mt. Jefferson wilderness into the Mt. Hood wilderness we were surprised to see a large snowfield as the elevation was only 6900 feet. At this point on the trail we were above timberline and had several miles of freezing rain and high winds. So nice not to empty my shoes of ash and dust at breaks because the rain watered down the trail. We had to pack our tent wet but were able to dry it out at the Olallie Lake Resort and Store. The trail today was intermittently very rocky. We saw Tinkles and Princess early on and hiked a bit with Squeeze and Jam. At the Olallie Lake store we learned rain was expected again tonight then we would have some nice weather. Although we could have camped there we wanted to get in more miles so hightailed it for another few hours. We then decided to camp with the water in our bottles as rain seemed imminent. We camped by Nightcrawler and Tipsy. The trail was in timber most of the day with the exception of entering the Mt. Hood Wilderness.
