Mile 760.50 to 745.29 for 15.21 PCT miles plus ~2 miles to the Horseshoe Meadows trailhead. Total PCT miles 1,715.95, however we are at PCT mile 1,718.45 since we did not due this years new 2.5 mile reroute near Sierra City. Elevation up 2,486 ft and down 1,512 ft excluding the two non-PCT miles. We have averaged over 16 miles per day through the 160+ miles of the high Sierras including Mt Whitney and our thunderstorm delays.

We were hiking at 7am as we overslept the alarm. It was the second day with a very cold morning where we hiked with gloves, hats and down until the sun hit 9am. Much of the trail was quite sandy like a dry beach while other parts were rocky with large stone steps. The terrain felt like the desert with rocks and boulders in lieu of our NW underbrush. Many beautiful red barked pines contrasting with the sand and boulders was stunning. We arrived at the Horseshoe Meadow trailhead and quickly got a hitch into Lone Pine CA. We immediately got burgers and shakes. Then checked into the Dow Hotel upon recommendation of PCT hikers we reconnected with “Ops & Fwd” from Shoreline WA. They are in Lone Pine after skipping a section around Tuolumne Meadows due to smoke to decide on what’s next for them.
And “On the Eleventh Day they Bathed!”.
