Day 123 - 7/30/18 (flip SOBO from Ashland, OR to Lone Pine, CA).

Mile 855.88 to 837.58 for 18.30 miles with an elevation increase of 4350 ft and decrease of 786 ft. Total PCT miles 1623.66.
We camped 0.14 miles prior to the Helen Lake outlet at an elevation of 11,650 ft. Hiking at 6:30am and into camp at 6:45pm. This included a two hour thunderstorm and rain delay. We hiked along the spectacular San Joaquin River in Kings Canyon National Park. One river ford went past Jerry’s knees and to my bottom! At our resupply Jerry decided he should carry my full bear bin and I would carry the stove and it’s accessories in exchange. This was too much weight for him and he struggled until I offloaded some of his pack such as the tent and several other items. During the day we tagged teamed with Yogi Bear and Curly whom we at MTR. We also had fun watching a doe trying to corral her two fawns who weren’t taking directions. It reminded us of parenting young children. At around 2pm it started thundering and raining. We sat under a big rock for forty minutes then decided to find a tent site. The rain eventually stopped so we packed up and were hiking at 4:10pm. We crossed Muir Pass at an elevation of 11,973 ft at 6pm where we took a break in the stone hut before descending to our tent site perched high above Helen Lake. I
