Day 97 - 7/4/18 (flip SOBO from Ashland, OR to Lone Pine, CA)

July 9, 2018

Mile 1263.5 to 1241.5 for 22.08 miles. Trail angel picked us up shortly after 6 with coffee for us and we were hiking at 6:36 am. Got into camp at 5:45 (Fowler Peak trailhead, elevation 5458). Total PCT miles 1223.26 with an elevation increase of 5365 and decrease of 5390. Saw many old friends going NOBO most of them going into Quincy for a big party tonight. Some of those we saw included House, So Yung, Sassy K and Salmon. Also reacquainted with Milkshake who did the same flip as us, just left Ashland a week earlier than we did. She is with Lady Meow, Meow and Shark Bait as well as Loner who we have been tag teaming since Old Station. Temperatures were reasonable and trail quality was good today. Our day off really did us good. We carried water 3 miles fro Fowler Creek (.1 off trail and 150 feet downhill) in preparation for a dry camp. There is no water on the trail for many miles. Another day of being vigilant in avoiding poison oak which seems to grow everywhere at elevations under 4500 feet. Also heard that the man riding his horse from Burney Falls to Mt Whitney had a fall at a creek crossing and had to go off trail for stitches. Sounds like one off his horses slipped on a wet rock at a creek crossing. No one knew how the horse is doing. We saw some of his supplies left alongside the trail.
