Day 90 - 6/27/18 (flip SOBO from Ashland, OR to Lone Pine, CA)
July 9, 2018
Mile 1369.7 to 1350.3 for 19.37 miles plus .8 to and from Drakesbad Guest Ranch to pick up a resupply box, shower and get dinner. No rooms were available so unable to “zero” here. Elevation increase of 2507 and decrease of 1731. Total PCT miles 1114.42. Hiking at 7:10 (after taping my feet to help with plantar fasciitis); into camp at 3:45. My shoes have worn out and my feet are paying the price. Yesterday I tweaked my Achilles’ tendon, but that is better today. Camped at the Warner Valley campground which is at an elevation of 5643. Quality of the trail was great today. We started by hiking in big timber then had several miles through an old burn. Lower Twin Lake in Lassen National Park was beautiful as were the many other lakes we passed in the park. We ran into “Einstein” and Cruze” as well as tag teamed with “Loner” for most of the day. At the guest ranch we had beer, chips and salsa on the deck before showers in the outside hiker shower. Dinner was an outside barbecue and was tasty. At days end we shared a campsite with several other hikers. This is the only place you can camp in the park without a bear canister. No cell or WiFi services so unable to connect with Fawn about our Sierra City box.
