Mile 1183.60 to 1160.76 for 22.83 miles with an elevation increase of 4671 and decrease of 3022. Total PCT miles 1301.41. Camped next to the Peter Grubb shelter (Sierra Club) at an elevation of 7821. Hiking by 6:15 and into camp at 6pm. Morning was cool until the sun hit us. We had lots of up and down today going over ridges. The ridges were beautiful with lots of wildflowers and views of distant peaks with remnants of snow. The winds were quite high occasionally blowing me off the trail. The air temp was warm however which was nice as we were above 8,000 feet. When not up on ridges we were mostly in big timber with a smattering of clear cuts and dirt roads. Today reminded us of the Pasayten Wilderness in eastern WA. We had plenty of water sources after the first 11 miles. We saw a large number of hikers. It is now feeling like we are swimming upstream against an ever stronger current. Many times we could not hike 50 steps without encountering one or more hikers coming at us going NOBO.
