Day 87 - 6/24/18 (flip SOBO from Ashland, OR to Lone Pine, CA)
June 25, 2018
Mile 1424.5 to 1411.3 for 13.2 miles. Elevation increase of 1098 fr and decrease 957 ft. Total PCT miles 1053.4. Hiking st 7am and to the highway by 1pm. Jerry was on a mission to get to the Burney Falls state park for cold drinks and gat a V8 tomato juice!! in lieu of his typical Coke. It was a hot night and desert like 97 degrees as we reached Hwy 299 for our ride into the town of Burney CA. Our hiking was in a thin Ponderosa Pine forest with occasional desert scrub. Although the falls were spectacular, the trail was very dusty. Roger a trail angel (taxi driver) came and drove us ~10 mile to our motel in town for ten bucks! We showered, laundered our clothes, spoke with Fawn about the Belden resupply, shopped for Jerry’s resupply, ate pizza with beer and finally went back to the motel to write up this blog. We plan to pick up Kathy’s gluten free resupply and Jerry’s new NeoAir sleeping pad at the post office in the morning. We hope to hike 14 miles after a late start tomorrow.
