Mile 1545.9 to 1525.8 for 20.14 miles. A trifecta for us for hiking at least 20 miles per day. Elevation gain of 1806 and loss of 1956. Total PCT miles 938.96. Camped the Gumboot trailhead, elevation 6501. Hiking again at 7am and into camp at 3:50pm. It was cold most of the day with ominous cloud as overhead by 2:30. Trail quality was much improved today. Many locals were out hiking or backpacking. Jerry put my leftover 100% pure organic almond butter on a reck at Upper Deadfall Lake to fatten up a skinny chippie. He went right to town on it, but too much for this little rascal to finish. I enjoyed a lawn chair at the Park Creek Trailhead designated for PCT hikers only. Quite a treat to sit in a chair rather than on the ground. One thing I have observed is that if Jerry wants something in my pack at a break he waits until I have the that all ready to go again before he asks for the item. Inevitably the item will be at the bottom of my pack. Today at one break I packed and unpacked four times! We had a dry camp so filled 7 liters and carried it the final 3.35 miles to camp. As a corollary to my video on lack of outhouses in CA - when on the rare occasion when there is one they are so disgusting that digging a cat hole is preferable for hygienic reasons. For example, they may be full up to the seat! Who knows when the last time they were maintained!
