Mile 1623.7 to 1613.7 for 10 miles with elevation gain of 2513 and decrease of 2046. Total PCT miles 850.94. Camped at Fisher Lake at elevation 6232.8. We woke to discover that the previous days snow and rain had frozen hard to our tent. Knowing we had to get it thawed out and dry we did not start hiking until 11:15 and got into camp at 4:30. We debated how far to go given our late start. Jerry was very pleased with the mileage we got today. Temperatures remained cold all day. We hiked on an over saturated trail with 1-2 inches of slushy snow for large sections. Continually snow and ice pelted us as it fell off the trees we were hiking under. Once we crested a saddle above Man Eaten Lake the snow on the trail increased providing some navigation and step kicking opportunities. As we descended the trail became a stream where we fought to keep our feet as dry as possible. Clouds were pouring over us and it was completely overcast by the time we got to camp. Small Fisher Lake was pretty and we had it to ourselves. We were thankful for the fuel some backpackers gave us before we left in the morning as we were low on fuel because of the unplanned “zero”. This allowed us to have a hot meal. Guyed our tent in prep for a stormy night.
