Mile 1703.9 to 1687.5 for 16.4 miles. Elevation increase of 2951 and decrease of 2861. We camped at an elevation of 6020. Total PCT miles 777.07. Hiking by 7:20 and in camp by 3:45. A very cold morning that remained cool all day. No condensation on our tent! A gorgeous day in and out of deep forests and big meadows. Only saw 2 people before camp. Had 2 snow patches to navigate at around 7000 feet. We had trail magic about 1 mile past Wrangle Gap in the form of 1 beer and 1 energy/fruit drink. They were still cold! Still making adjustments to the lumbar padding I added to my pack and believe I finally have them right. We both added tape to our backs to reduce abrasions. Crossed back into CA and noticed at the log that at least 40 people either flipped like us or skipped the Sierras and were heading north. Shortly after re-entering CA we hiked through previous clear cuts that had not been replanted and saw a sign stating it would be clear cut again. Very sad as the only trees left to cut are the ones that have grown up since the last clear cut. Camped dry as Jerry was “done” but only had to carry water a short distance. Water was plentiful and clear all day.
