Day 45 - 5/13/18

MP 566.44 to MP 577.27 for 10.83 miles.  Elevation gain 2905 ft, loss 1417 ft.  Camp at 5322 ft elevation.

Rode bus to trailhead and started up at 10am. Very hard day for Jerry. I was not feeling well, possibly a sinus infection?  Met “Engine” and “Nightengale”.  Late start resulted in fewer miles arriving in camp at 4:30pm.  Wind was strong all day and occasionally blew one off the trail.  Jerry carried 7 liters and Kathy 5 liters for our dry camp. Jerry’s knee was better, but still slow going. Two hikers were returning to Tehachapi, one due to knee problems and Drift because his rental house in New Mexico flooded! According to a trail log Matt and NatGeo are one day ahead of us as expected.  The next water is still 6 miles away.  The chili Fawn and I made was a hit.  Finally a lot conversation with Dawn about Kennedy’s Meadows boxes. We also changed our delivery local to “Grumpys Bears Retreat” where we are not charged for each package.  Lastly we received videos of our grandson Uli’ which brightened our day.
