We had a good nights sleep. Walked approximately 3 miles round trip to get resupplies; including cheap shoes for upcoming river crossings in the Sierras. Breakfast buffet at the Fairfield Inn is the best we have had when “zeroing”. Repaired my orthotics. Crazy that my old ones I wore for 15 years without repair and this desert is eating them up even though I switch them out weekly. Uploaded photos to Dropbox so I can free up space on my phone. Hotel facilitated us mailing some things back home. Replaced our “smart” water bottles. I have been concerned about the plastic fatiguing as they bend a lot when empty. Have been replacing them every 250-300 miles. Added additional compactor bags in prep for the Sierras. Our 3 season tents vestibule does not come to ground level so in increment weather will need to cover our packs. Jerry has been figuring out our next “zero”. Accommodations at Lake Isabella have the worst reviews I have ever seen so we would like to get to Ridgecrest. This may mean more “zeroes” than we want due to the bus only running 3 days a week. Coordinated with Dawn about our Kennedy Meadows boxes. Jerry ordered new shoes. It is challenging shopping for resupplies. The available stores may or may not have what you need and if it does the quantity doesn’t work. For example we needed 3 compactor bags but had to buy a box of 10. We needed 4 days snacks, but can only get items in large bags. This results in carrying too much food, or leaving lots of food and items behind. We have most recently opted to carry the extra weight. Hope you enjoy Jerry’s new way of opening one of Kmarts fine wines.
