Day 43 - 5/11/18

May 12, 2018

Forgot to mention that yesterday we hiked mile 555.74 to mile 566.40. It was close to a “nearo” as it was just over 10 miles. Previous discussions with other PCT hikers determined that a “Nearo” is when total PCT miles for a day is in the single digits. We did just over that at 10.66 miles for the day. We have learned that two hikers resting under an Oak tree near Tylerhorse canyon had a Mohave rattlesnake crawl across their bare legs. Once again so glad for our tent. Also hear that a hiker was airlifted somewhere near Hiker Town due to severe heat stroke. Dehydration and heat related illness’s are very real out here. We wish all the hikers good health. Had breakfast with Sage and Double Ought Zero and ran into Drift. Another high wind advisory today. Had a great dinner at the local steakhouse. Started planning the next 150 miles which will put us in the Sierras.
