Left Hiker Town at 12:36am and hiked to the water barrel at Cottonwood Creek. It was very hot by 8am without a breeze. We sat and took cat naps under a small lean to that provided shade for 9 hours after filtering 7 liters of water. It was amazing to see how many rodents were out this night. Glad we are not “cowboy camping”. Temperatures reached 100 degrees Farenheit by noon. At about 4:00 a slight breeze came up so we ate our dinner and filtered 4 more liters of water. We had gone through the 7 liters we filtered earlier. We resumed hiking at 5:30pm. The wind farm greeted us with very high winds so at the last daylight at 8:30 when we came upon a suitable tent site we called it a day. The day was very monotonous as it was almost all concrete and dirt roads. Mentally it was a very hard day. Mile 517.59 to mile 540.33. Elevation gain approximately 2K and descended approximately 500 feet. Observed pot and optional clothing at Cottonwood Creek.
