Started hiking by 6:45am. Late start due to tough day yesterday. Mile 501.1 to mile 517.61 (Hiker Town). Elevation gain approximately 2500 and descended approximately 4100 feet.  cool morning but by noon it was VERY hot.we underestimated how much water we would need.  Filtered water at a water tank and saw four snakes!  Hiker town has very mixed people, but communal living is really hard on us. In particular when it is a free for all. It’s very desolate location and very greatful to have it. We were fortunate to rent a “couples” room for  $20 per night, got a shower and a ride to the store/restaurant.  It was quite expensive and had a very limited supply of items.  Jerry noted today that the flies were more attracted to him than the fresh horse dung in the trail!   Reasons are open to debate! We hiked with Adam on and off all day.  Saw Drift, Matt and NatGeo along with a myriad of twenty somethings at Hiker Town.  We also got a resupply box.
