We were back on the trail by 6:10. The night was pleasant. We were surprised that the morning was warmer than it had been yesterday (several thousand feet lower). Hiked mile 357.23 to 369.40 with 3800+ elevation gain and 1800+ elevation decrease. Jerry’s left knee was quite stiff so he was very slow today. The trail quickly changed from an old burn to wonderful large timber. With trees providing shade the air temperature was pleasant all day. Arrived at Hwy 2 by 1:30 and quickly got a ride from a homeless man who had been living in his truck for 4 months. He was very pleasant. We are staying at the Canyon Creek Inn in Wrightwood. The room is nice but laundry facility is minimal; yet better than the bathroom sink. We seem to have moved out of the hiking bubble we have been in. Most likely because Jerry is moving slower and we have been passed. We are running into more injured hikers the last few days. We are taking a “zero” in Wrightwood and hope Jerry’s knee improves. Of note a water cache at Guffy Springs Campground made the 27 mile dry stretch more pleasant.
