Day 24 - 4/22/18

We woke to 65 degrees in the tent this am. Temperatures have fluctuated a lot for us. Sometimes like last night we just use Jerry’s quilt to cover both of us. At other times we are both in our bags (Jerry’s quilt zips up) and he has his down pullover on. Hiked mile 316.17 to 333.82 with approximately 3K increase and decrease for the day. A hot and mostly windless day. We enjoyed an hour at the day use area of Silverwood Lake where we rinsed our shirts and hair under a faucet and filled several water bottles in prep for a dry camp. On most days we pass a lot of tents with 20 something’s in them only to be passed (Jerry) by them later in the day. We get our miles in early while they hike later into the day. Lots of pot smoking at Silverwood Lake. This was the best day for my feet and Jerry’s knees. Jerry has begun obsessing about the McDonalds .4 miles off trail in only 8 miles. I made reservations at the Best Western for tomorrow night so we can clean up and start the next 26 mile steep, hot, dry stretch very early in the day.
