Woke up at 6am. Temperature inside tent was 32 degrees. Much of the dusting of snow had sublimated. It took us 90 minutes to get up and going because of the cold. Usually we our up and out hiking within 60 minutes. The day warmed quickly and was very hot by day end. We hiked from mile 280.51 to 298.50. Ran into Sunshine, Sophie and James. We had not seen Sophie and James since the White River Preserve. I realized that dealing with technology and text messages while hiking is very stressful. Internet access is in and out and my phone beeps when I receive service. At this time I pull up the Water report. However, you can lose service while standing in the same place. It is very sketchy and frustrating. We camped under the bridge over Deep Creek and enjoyed rinsing dirt off our bodies and socks. It was the second time today that we were able to soak our hot feet in cool water. We descended 4200 feet and ascended approximately 1000 feet today. Jerry’s knees were bothering him quite a bit. Advil helped. Pain in my foot from a twist and some left foot neuroma pain began subsiding. Our camp was at an elevation of 4532.
