The day started with Jerry proclaiming that it was not easy drinking 24 quarts of Kool-aid over the past 6 days of hiking. That is a gallon a day! We got a cab to the trailhead. The cab driver let us know snow was expected in Big Bear by 3pm. It was already very cold. Indeed we got light snow mid morning and weather deteriorated during early afternoon. Consequentially we found a tent site around 3:30 and hunkered down for the night. Hiked mile 266.1 to 280.51. Elevation gain approximately 1500 ft. During the day we ran into Coyote, Radio and Sunshine. We were prepared for a dry camp by filtering 9L water at our nine mile mark. We had service so checked NOAA and saw 18-28 degrees temperature forecast above 6000 ft. Our tent site was at 7800 ft. It began snowing at 5:30 and we had some high winds.
