Left “bushwhack” camp at 6am. Mile 232.20 to mile 246.48. Camped at the Coon Creek Group Camp; elevation 8134 ft. Gained approximately 4K elevation today. Arrived at camp at 3pm. The temperature was much cooler today and we wondered if a storm was rolling in. This was a dry camp so we hauled 9 liters which we filtered at the Mission Trail Camp 6.43 miles before Coon Creek camp. Our next possible water source would be slightly off trail at mile 150. We noted the lizards were not out until about 11am. Normally they are out right after sunrise. Several other hikers joined us for the evening. Many of them slept in the dilapidated ruins of the cabin. We set up our tent as we know how vermin infested cabins like these can be. We heard more about “Mike’s Place”. Apparently a few days after we were there a strip show took place. Not sure if male or female or both. Also that the way dishes are done is a fire is lit under a big tub of water and the dishes are washed. However, a cook told one hiker that after it quiets down he sometimes bathes in the dish water. There is no running water at Mike’s Place. I did not eat there; Jerry enjoyed pizza... Hmmmm were the dishes wash before or after the bath?
